Racing Unicycles

In IUF and USA unicycle competitions, unicycles are raced on a standard running track, with standard distances from 100 meters to 10 kilometers. Maximum wheel size is 24" and minimum crank arm length is 5". This still leaves some leeway for maximizing the vehicle for the track.

The track unicycle of Michael Kirsch of Germany is super-light and super-narrow. It has a split aluminum fork with aluminum seat post. Straps on the pedals. An extremely narrow axle (this is thought to reduce the side-to-side "wobble" effect). It's also built with a tiny, high pressure 26" rim and tire. How? The tire diameter is almost exactly 24".
